  • Assisting with the evacuation of University buildings
  • Dealing with aggressive and difficult Students, visitors and Contractors.
  • Officers are to intervene (where safe to do so) and challenge all persons involved and make efforts to resolve the matter. Officers must record all details fully.

Job Role / Requirements:

  • SIA Licence
  • Must be flexible and be able to work days, nights, weekends, long/short shifts and be available at short notice
  • The ability to demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service at all times on a highly professional level

  • Conducting emergency procedures including evacuations
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures of Building, patrolling, reception duties, access control, answering incoming telephone calls
  • To be methodical and pay attention to detail
  • To attend site in full uniform maintaining a neat, tidy and presentable appearance at all times, sign on duty in the Security Supervisor’s Log Book,
  • Enforce procedural rules and regulations. Ensures the personal safety of staff, visitors, and property.
  • Maintain security and safety for assigned area. Maintains working knowledge of the locations.
  • Flexibility to change due to operational needs
  • Maintain logs and records of occurrences, completes necessary paperwork, and may use computer terminal to input and retrieve data
  • To ensure that in the event of a fire that evacuation procedures are conducted in accordance with site Health & Safety procedures
  • To report interference and misuse of any equipment provided in the interest of health and safety, i.e. fire extinguishers, fire exits propped open, spillages etc.
  • Be vigilant for suspect packages and bomb threats
