They did it!
Our incredible CIS Cyclones took on the challenge last Thursday at Paternoster Square Estate and cycled the full 196 nautical miles from London to Paris (on static bikes!) all in support of Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity, a charity dedicated to helping those affected by breast cancer.
On the CIS team was Laura Robilliard who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and she shares her story:
What inspired you to take part in the Tour De Pat cycle challenge?
Being diagnosed with breast cancer on my 38th birthday in May 2024 was life-changing. It shook me to my core, but it also gave me a completely new perspective on what my body and mind are capable of. Taking part in the Tour De Pat felt like a way to take back some control — to move forward with strength and purpose after a year of surgeries, treatment, and recovery. It’s also about showing gratitude to everyone who supported me, and giving something back to the breast cancer community that helped me feel less alone during the toughest days.
What message do you hope this challenge sends to others?
I hope it shows that life doesn’t stop after a diagnosis — in fact, it can give you a whole new sense of resilience. You can rebuild, you can thrive, and you can take on challenges that once felt impossible. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or post-recovery, you are stronger than you think — and you deserve to live fully.
If you could say one thing to someone currently going through a breast cancer journey, what would it be?
Take it one day at a time — and be kind to yourself. There will be hard days, but there will also be days when you surprise yourself with your own strength. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and remember that this chapter will not define you — it will shape a stronger version of you.
